Looks We Love: Stella McCartney Fall 2017

Perhaps the reigning queen of cruelty-free, sustainable fashion, Stella McCartney brings her signature sharp tailoring and sexy femininity to her Fall 2017 line.

When it comes to her daywear and evening wear collections, the ’80s are clearly out to play; bold prints and defined shoulders take the spotlight, and baggy overcoats chicly cinched at the waist give a deliciously irreverent, devil-may-care vibe to this season’s offerings.

And just because McCartney is cruelty-free doesn’t mean that she’s opposed to a good faux fur; large fur overcoats here will likely speak to the vegetarians and vegans among us who like to spend the autumn months sporting a ‘Scandinavian princess’ aesthetic.

Perhaps the star of the line is, surprisingly, not a piece but a colour: red. Tomato red, berry red, fire engine red…red appears in various hues here in overcoats, blazers, and evening gowns. And when it comes to those reds, McCartney forgoes pattern in favour of texture: fringes, sequins, and lace all make a bold appearance.

Also on offer this fall is a line of activewear, the result of a collaboration with retro-loving Adidas. These pieces are in keeping with the ’80s vibe of the season and make for a glam, vintage twist on work-out gear.
