Pumpkin Spice Hummus

Whether it’s fall or early spring, pumpkin spice is always a hit! We see this fragrant flavour in so many dishes: lattes, cookies, cakes, and even curries. These earthy flavours can be enjoyed in any season, and this healthy recipe for Pumpkin Spice Hummus is a savoury take on a classic favourite. If fall is your favourite season, so much the better; you can harken back to the rich days of autumn and enjoy this snack no matter what colour the leaves are.

Ingredients

1 cup butternut squash (or winter squash of choice)

1 cup cooked or canned chickpeas

1 tbsp tahini

1 tbsp Lakanto (or sweetener of choice)

1 tsp chai spice blend (equal parts of cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, allspice & cardamom)

1 tsp sea salt

¼ cup lemon juice

Optional pumpkin seeds (for garnish)

Method

Combine all ingredients in a food processor or high speed blender. Mix until a creamy, hummus consistency is established. Enjoy as dip, in a sauce, spread or dollop on salads!
