Must-Have Accessories For Summer

As temperatures rise, it’s time to get your summer wardrobe in check! Though there are plenty of beachwear and swimwear fashion trends we can’t get enough of this season, in this article we’re turning our attention to accessories. After all, no outfit of the day is complete without some fine accompaniments. From floral bling to beachy espadrilles, check out these five must-have accessories for summer.

Floral Jewellery

Floral fashion may have been back for spring, but this summer, it’s all about floral jewellery. Think rings, necklaces, bracelets, and more — this season, blinged-out jewels in the shape of roses, daisies, and pansies are the name of the game. But the fad is not only centred on flowers! Greenery-inspired accessories such as leaves, clovers, and trees are also on-trend. Tiffany & Co’s Paper Flowers collection (which is backed by Elle Fanning) is filled with delicate diamonds and royal blue tanzanites, all of which are in the shape of three-petaled blooms. Van Cleef & Arpels has also come out with a brand new line dedicated to flowers: the Flora Collection. Sparkly, three-dimensional, and comprising a variety of different flowers, this ethereal jewellery collection is perfectly paired with chic summer outfits.

Espadrilles

We’ve been saying the 2000s are back, haven’t we? Then it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Spanish espadrilles have seen a MAJOR resurgence! Available nearly everywhere in both the traditional wedge and newly on-trend platform styles (more on platforms later), this lightweight, beachy footwear, made with esparto rope, is a must in your wardrobe this summer. Dress them down with a maxi dress cover-up and hit the pool, or dress them up with a pastel jumpsuit and hit the hottest brunch spot in your city. Yves Saint Laurent and Valentino are just two of the biggest designers that have adopted the espadrille this season. Valentino’s chic iteration even features the brand’s signature rock studs for an extra touch of glam.

Belt Bags

Make like Bella Hadid and buy yourself a belt bag (a sister to the fanny pack) ASAP! Belt bags are the most stylish and convenient way to carry your things this summer. And thanks to powerhouse designers like Gucci, high end versions of the trend are now available. Unlike your uncle’s fanny pack from the ’90s, Gucci’s Marmont Belt Bag is made with black chevron leather and is designed to be worn high on the waist — no more hip-huggers. If you’re in the midst of planning a summer getaway, this is the perfect accessory for you. Plus, they’re ultra versatile. Be the ultimate cool girl and wear around the waist, or put only one strap over your shoulder and it’s instantly converted into a crossbody.

Chandelier Earrings

Statement jewellery has made a comeback, which means that when it comes to earrings, the bigger the better! We’re talking chandelier earrings that are so #OTT, they’ll graze your shoulders! Whether you prefer funky and fun iterations of the trend that feature tassels and baubles, or a more classic version with gemstones, there’s no wrong way to jump on board. Percossi Papi’s Gold Plated Multi Stone Earrings are handmade in Rome and feature gemstones, as well as miniature white Indian pearls, for the ultimate day-to-night accessory.

Platform Sandals

Channel your inner ’90s girl this summer because platforms are back! Though platform heels are definitely in, it’s the sandal version of the trend that we’re particularly obsessed with. Dubbed “flatforms,” the platform sandals of 2018 often feature a rubber or foam-looking, multi-layered sole, resulting in some serious height. (Think of them as a more stylish version of the sporty Teva.) Chloé’s Sawyer Studded Leather Platform Sandals are made from smooth black leather and a flatform sole with gold ball studs, and pair well with both jeans and dresses.
