There’s a certain level of prestige that one can expect from Scuderia Ferrari, the racing division of luxury Italian brand Ferrari. It’s not only the oldest surviving Formula One team, but it’s also the most successful, never having missed a championship since 1950.
Scuderia Ferrari also boasts its own clothing line, producing apparel that is both fit for champion drivers and for those who prefer to take in the excitement trackside. This spring, several different collections caught our eye as we prepare for the races. (Fun fact: our Editor-in-Chief, Ramsin Khachi, is a race car enthusiast; we’ll have more info on the cars he’ll be driving this summer in our AUTO & TECH section over the coming months!)
Redio-Active is a collection filled with top-of-the-line details. Camouflage technical fabrics and ultra-performance materials can be found in the men’s line as well as the women’s. Throughout, patterns and motifs pay homage to the powerful design identity of Scuderia Ferrari. Branded caps and bags — a sleek travel option, laptop backpack, crossbody, and beauty case — feature that iconic logo, which earned the racing team its nickname, “The Prancing Horse.” Rich hues of merlot and crimson gives this otherwise neutral line an occasional pop of rich colour.
These same colours are carried over into the brand’s Spring collection of polos and tees. A mix of heavy branding and subtle logo placement leaves plenty of options for choosing just how loudly and proudly you wish your clothing to shout the name “Scuderia Ferrari.” We’re especially partial to two graphic tees in particular: a cotton jersey t-shirt with a hand-designed Shield, created by the brand’s Department of Design, and a cotton t-shirt displaying a sketch of the technical designs of Ferrari race cars.
One of the most exciting offerings from the brand this season is a line of footwear created in collaboration with PUMA. This limited-edition collection resurrects various ’90s PUMA kicks, like this modern re-imagination of the CELL Venom shoe. Perforated fabric, layered suede, and leather detailing are enhanced by that iconic Ferrari Shield on the side of the shoe and the Puma CELL logo on the tongue. And, just as it did in the ’90s, this shoe features the hexagonal cells of PUMA’s revolutionary CELL technology, which provides excellent heel cushioning.
For those in search of a more versatile sneaker, one that can be dressed up as well as down, the Scuderia Ferrari Roma sneakers are another updated legendary PUMA shoe. This new motorsport imagining of the footwear brand’s timeless sneaker easily transitions from city streets to a day at the races. High performance details like a padded tongue and orthopedic footbed (hey, who says comfort can’t be sporty and sexy?), a cushion-like EVA midsole, and a reinforced toe and heel make this sneaker functional, while subtle logo placement and a rich monochrome look (available in both red and a dark bluette) lend some classic elegance to this pair.
Another collaboration this season has resulted in an accessory that’s perfect for keeping the sun’s harsh glare off of tire-marked asphalt. Ray-Ban x Scuderia Ferrari is a pair of aviators that plays up the eyewear brand’s timeless silhouette with, of course, the Shield. A rimless carbon fibre frame is every bit as streamlined as a Ferrari race car. Best of all, this pair comes with a sleek embossed case.
